I don't "do" resolutions

I guess about now there are a lot of people trying to figure out what will be on their lists of new year's resolutions. I don't get it. Really. I don't understand why people wait to do that till a whole year has gone by since they last made such a list, and yet, they still do it again!

Do you do that? I admit that I am a list maker. Just not lists of resolutions when facing a blank calendar. Now I love my calendar... it has to be one with big blocks on which I can note upcoming appointments and birthdays and things. I've got one in the kitchen and one at the office.

I do make lists of things "to do". My Dad taught me that when I was just a child. I still do it, because it works for me. I list things to be done that day, or in the next few days. I make myself reminders on sticky notes. But I don't save resolutions for once a year. I'm one of those people who tend to keep track of things, and conditions, and people I care about. So I also keep track of where I am on the journey, and on meeting my planned goals.

Statistically, I've read that it takes three weeks of consistent effort to either establish a new habit, or to break an old one. So, if you are one of the folks who do make new year's resolutions, maybe that will help this year to bring to pass what you resolve. Set about doing it, or not doing it, [whatever "it" is] and see it become a changed pattern in your life.

Whatever works for you, blessings on both your "doing" and on your being in this new year!
